October 2006

 Letter from the President

Thus far, 2006 has been a successful year for IUM. As several of you heard at NAPSLO, we are increasing our production efforts, enhancing our products and growing our profitable book of business
With your support, we hope to maintain these efforts. Please continue to think of IUM as a product solution. Good luck with this last quarter - may it be a profitable and successful one for all of us!

As you will read, we have been very busy in Red Bank, NJ.  This month, we broke ground on our new building. This project supports our vision of expansion and growth.   It should be finished mid-2007 and we hope to see you at that celebration!

We are also celebrating IUM's 10-year anniversary with Markel this month.  There are many of you that have supported us through those years and we thank you.  We also have several associates who have contributed to the success of our organization.  I would personally like to thank the following associates: Joan Osley, Accounting; Al Hoyos, Accounting; Kathleen Bobash, Accounting; Robert Frings, Accounting; Cynthia Marino, Accounting; Sharon Downey, Excess & Umbrella; Mia Tillman, Primary Casualty; Leo Quigley, Primary Casualty; Jeannette Guercio, Property; Lori Bonser, Claims; Dawn Scott, Claims; Dee Quinn, Property; Michael Perciaccante, Primary Casualty. Thank you all for your efforts and dedication.  We look forward to another successful 10 years!

Keep up the communication, the feedback and the support!  Have a great month!

Here We Grow Again!

The future is bright here at Investors!  Product Line expansion and profitable underwriting have afforded us the ability to increase our employee base.  Our team has grown more than threefold since joining the Markel family in 1996, from 45 employees to over 175 today.  We are pleased to announce our most recent expansion project: a new 39,000 square foot building adjacent to our current location in Red Bank, New Jersey. This new facility will increase our Red Bank location to over 81,000 square feet and will house several divisions as well as a state of the art training center and conference area.

In conjunction with our Markel Corporation counterparts, Investors has formed a New Building Team to oversee the planning and construction of our new facility. The New Building Team is spearheaded by our Chief Administrative Officer, Robert W. Blazer III.  Other team members include Maria Hurley, Human Resources Director; Joan Teller, Information Technology Director; Carol Acquaviva, Special Projects Manager and Amy Cali, Facilities Coordinator.

We expect to break ground sometime this month and look forward to welcoming you all to our newest facility by late summer 2007.  In the meantime, we’ll be sure to keep you informed of our progress.

Thank you for your on-going support and partnership – we would not be enjoying this continuing success without you!

Looks who’s attending NAPSLO Advanced School!

Cathy Sevret of our Environmental Division has been nominated and selected to attend the NAPSLO 2006 Advanced School. The event will be taking place November 4-7, 2006 in Dallas, Texas. The Advanced School was designed for insurance professionals with five or more years experience and provides an extended course of study for experienced surplus lines professionals.   It is also a great opportunity to network with industry associates.

Cathy Sevret has been with IUM for over three years as a Senior Underwriter in our Environmental Division.

Please join us in wishing Cathy good luck with her training!
