At Markel's Casualty Facultative Reinsurance Division, we realize that "one size does not fit all". Each risk has unique needs and the ability to identify hazards is critical to profitably managing our book of business. We work with clients that desire a partnership in the risk management process. We have put guidelines in place, which define our core underwriting attitude and pricing approach. Our guidelines are designed to allow for responsiveness towards the changing needs of our client base.

Our Experience

Our strategy is to provide individually underwritten insurance products to assist organizations in the transfer of casualty risk. We differentiate ourselves by applying our extensive underwriting expertise to the risk transfer transaction. While we are new to the market, we possess a highly experienced staff and knowledgeable reinsurance underwriters who will be able to provide valuable insight to clients in addition to our standard services.

Products

We concentrate on underwriting General/Products Liability (including some Professional Liability) and Automobile Liability buffer layer business along with Umbrella capacity support.

Buffer layers will be supported at a minimum attachment point of $250,000, and we expect that our Umbrella participations will be in the lead layers and virtually all of it will attach within the first $10 million of limit.
